Within the first 10 minutes of the photo shoot, the little one fell face down on the stone stairs. Luckily, there wasn't blood-just a huge bump on his forehead. He cried for a few seconds and was back to running around as if nothing had ever happened.

I love when people appreciate El Paso as much as I. Even though I am a native El Pasoan, I haven't always appreciated its beauty. Only in the last years have I learned to love those little things about this city. So I was thrilled when the mom asked me if I could take pictures downtown, especially in the alligator plaza. I remember as a child taking field trips to the old Plaza Theater and public library. I never did hear or see any of the said ghosts at the haunted library, although I am a little freaked out every time I go, especially to the basement. I wished I could say I remember when the plaza had live alligators, but I would be lying, making me 50 years old. I guess the alligators are better protected in the zoo, which was the reason they were taken out of the plaza in 1965-just for your El Paso trivia knowledge.

I've been wanting to take pictures in our beautiful El Paso desert for a while now. There is this great little trail really close to my house. In the evenings when I drive by, I notice all the wonderful textures and colors: the ocotillos, the shrubs, the greens and yellows and reds. The boys loved playing with the rocks and the dead ocotillos sticks they used as swords. It was all fun and games until someone got hurt! Diego accidentally wacked Emilio with one of the prickly sticks on the chin. Poor baby. He had a nasty mark on his face for a few days and I had to explain what had happened to everyone who gasped when they saw him.

This was my first photo shoot back and I loved every moment of it. I got to play with this adorable little man that has gotten so big. The last time I photographed him, he was holding a rattle and didn't move much. This time around he was running all over and I had a hard time keeping up. He reminded me of my middle son who is also full of energy. We climbed in his playset and searched for rolly-pollies. His mom put him in white clothes after he changed out of his fireman outfit and 2 seconds later had dirt all over his shirt! So cute. Could have stayed and played with him all day.

Meet Adrian & Amaris: my two cousins. I owed Amaris her senior pics and well, Adrian just wanted pictures to show off his newly found confidence. Part of the session was close to Asarco and the Rio Grande. I love these pictures. They are so typical of El Paso. If you look in the background of several of the pictures, you'll even see La Migra, or the Border Patrol for those of you who don't speak El Paso. Isn't it sad when one of our icons is the huge, old Asarco tower? I have to admit I was a bit scared while we were doing the photo shoot next to the river. We were literally less than a mile from Juarez, with nothing stopping anyone, or anything (like bullets) crossing to the US. The Border Patrol guys told us just to stay on this side of the big white rocks. I guess the white rocks are the official point of entry at that point!

As some of you have heard, I offered a limited amount of photo sessions this fall. I had an amazing response and it means a lot to me. I am booked for the season and hopefully I haven't bitten off more than I can chew! If this year goes well and I am able to balance my family life with the photography, I might consider doing it again next fall.

I am doing on-location photo shoots only, so I will be posting images on the blog for you to get an idea of what we can do for your sessions. I'm excited for this season and I think it will be a great one! Thank you all for your support and trust.

After 4 wonderful years, I am announcing that I am closing Jessica Sandberg Photography. I am incredibly grateful to all my wonderful clients for making my business thrive. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I met so many amazing people and made friendships that I will never forget. This is a bittersweet decision that my husband and I have come to for the good of our family.

I will still be photographing clients that have already scheduled for the next few months, but I will not be scheduling any more photo shoots.

This beautiful baby was hands down the easiest baby I have ever photographed. He was so sweet and patient. I feel so blessed to have photographed him. Dad suggested putting him out here and they turned out to be my favorite shots from the whole photo shoot. His mom let me play with him for as long as I wanted, so I was in heaven with this little angel.

I've been waddling across town with an extra 20 pounds, numb legs, cravings of all kinds, and the excitement and anticipation of a new baby boy in our home. I'm almost 7 months preggos and due April 3rd. So, as you've noticed, I've taken a break from photography and will probably get back to taking pictures sometime in June. So stayed tuned in April for some baby pics since my mind is already turning in all sorts of directions with ideas for newborn pictures.

Christmas season is in full swing now and is actually winding down-yay! This year I limited the photo shoots, so I didn't have as much work as last year and it has been a life saver. I am currently 4 months pregnant and every day I feel like I just ran a marathon. Hopefully soon I will regain my energy.

I still have some fabulous unedited pictures from my workshop in SLC that I will post before the end of the year, hopefully, along with some of the family shoots I've been busy doing these months. In the meantime I leave you with one of my own-the one that doesn't want another baby for fear that it will turn out like his younger brother, who we so affectionately call the Gremlin.

A lot is going on in my home right now-my oldest is going into Kindergarten, I'm getting pretty busy with holiday shoots and I'm also getting ready to go to a workshop in September so that I can continue to offer you awesome ideas and pictures. With all the chaos, I need to stay organized, so I thought I'd let you know my availability for the next few months. I'm booked up pretty much until the end of October. I do have October 25th, November 1st and November 15th open. I will not be doing any photo shoots past Thanksgiving, so please plan ahead and schedule your photo shoot.

Here are some important dates to keep in mind. Please be considerate. No exceptions will be made.

Nov. 15........Last day for photo sessions.
Nov. 22.......All Christmas cards must be ordered by this date for Dec. 6th delivery.
Dec. 6..........All orders must placed to receive your pictures by Dec. 20th.

It is so amazing to see people evolve-first into couples, then into families. I've had the privilege to witness this transformation in a few of my clients. My favorite part is seeing their happiness level go sky high after having a baby come into their lives.

Don't know why July was so busy. I had 10 photo shoots in 2 weeks! You have to understand that I usually only one photo shoot every Saturday and maybe another during the week. But to have 5 in one week is just craziness. After a really rough month, I am going to have to go back to doing a limited number of photo shoots per week. since I am primarily a stay-at-home mom, too many photo shoots is too hard on my kiddos. So if you are interested in a photo shoot, please plan ahead.

That said, I want to share some pictures of this adorable little couple. The little girl was a show stopper and the little boy, well, he wanted to be in his own show.

I took my boys out for a "fun" evening of pictures at some urban locations I've been scouting out. My husband had a late night at work, so instead of being home and going crazy, I packed the boys with their corndog dinners and headed downtown. I bribed them with a trip to the candy isle at Wal-mart and they did pretty good. I'm excited for my upcoming urban shoots. A glimpse of what's to come.

I'm back from our trip to Utah, which was very invigorating. The highlight was spending time with family and with my parents in-law who just returned from a 3-year mission in Russia. I also had the opportunity to photograph a fresh little baby who still smelled of newborn.

Things have finally slowed down a bit and I'm able to take a breather. I was lucky enough to do a maternity session. When my client walked in, I didn't believe she was even pregnant. We had to work around the posing to get her belly to show. I think it was a bit camera shy because we finally got it to show. Good luck to you with your upcoming arrival. Babies are such a blessing.

Thank you to all who came to the Tutu Party. It was a huge success and we had loads of fun. The models were just radiating with princess beauty! These tutus are amazing. We started off doing a studio session, but the baby had her own agenda, as most babies do. After a while of trying and trying, we moved on to Plan B, which proved to be more successful. I love photographing families that are just being themselves and not so posed. The kids obviously adore their father. I love the expressions he's able to bring out on their little faces.

If I could have my pick of any age baby to photograph, it would have to be 6 months. They are perfect at this age-they can sit up, they can't crawl (usually) and they can't walk, thank goodness! And they are super cute at this age. They start to like to interact with other people and get a kick out of little things like peek-a-boo. Meet Baby E. She was a bit shy the entire session, but as long as Mom was within 6 inches, she was ok. What a doll.

Every time I see a new store or restaurant or attraction in El Paso that really adds to the flavor of our city, I get a big smile on my face. It's so intoxicating to me to find things that are original and different, especially when it comes to kiddos. When I discovered Matilda Jane and Mama Patrice about a year ago (well, Mama Patrice about 2), I was in love. It's a really good thing that I have two boys and no girls or else we'd be a starving family with a closet full of adorable, non-edible clothes!

Last Thursday after a very unsuccessful and frustrating trip to T-Mobile to try to fix my Dash phone problems, I saw a store that intrigued me. I went in to look around and discovered the hippest kids' store in El Paso. Seriously. It's called Funki Munki and they sell mostly organic clothing that are to die for and great toys and bedding and strollers and ... I even saw Baby Legs there. I adore babies in onsies and Baby Legs-oh so huggable and chewable! So if you want to find something truly original and totally chic, go to the Funki Munki and get your funk on. (They're in the same shopping center as Tres Mariposas.)

Have you ever seen newborns as cute as these? I was gaga over "B" and "B". So cute. And their siblings were just as adorable. I adore photographing large families. Do you remember the family of 10? I've done quite a few other very large families (the largest family had 10 children!). The kids are just so much fun-especially when they interact with each other. Well, these kiddos were no exception. They love their new baby brothers.

The wedding was at St. Patrick's and it was a beautiful day for photographs. These two were so cute together. I just love the way he looks at her-still much love after many years.

There's something about expectant women that just commands attention and admiration. And when you add some sassiness, you've got a fiery red head with the cutest little tummy. Women, in my opinion, should be bold and not afraid to speak their minds-this is what I loved about this prego. Her personality just radiated.

I played quite a bit with the beautiful lighting and we had some fun playing dress-up with all the fairy dresses. Mom wanted an ethereal feel to her maternity pictures. Oh, and interesting enough, we found out that we actually went to high school together. She, of course, graduated two years after me.

I seriously have to nominate El Paso as being one of the windiest cities in the US. When the wind starts blowing, it really howls. This Saturday was one of the windiest days yet. It actually made it kind of fun to have Gaby's hair blowing all over the place. It made for some fun shots. If only it had blown perfectly on queue!

I'm starting a really exciting workshop especially for parents in which I will teach you how to better photograph your children. If your kids are anything like mine, it is a struggle to get a good picture that I feel reflects who they truly are. In my workshop, I will teach you tips and tricks to get those beautiful pictures while still having fun. This workshop is not intended to be a photography course and I will not cover any technical stuff. It is a one-time 1 hour course in an intimate setting. I will present and teach the information during the first half-hour and the remaining half hour will be left open for questions and discussion. The cost of the workshop is $25 per person. I will be reserving spots for the first workshop soon since the space is limited (max of 10 people). This is probably my all-time favorite picture of any picture I've taken and I love it even more because it just so happens to be my oldest son. I've been wanting to get this picture blown up huge-a 24x30 on a fine art gallery canvas. So I came back to it this week and played around with it. I wanted a more dramatic feel to it because I always felt like I had never done it justice. I am really pleased with the way this one turned out and I can't wait to get it printed (along with my baby's Sweet 16 newborn collage)!

I just have to laugh since these "studs" are my cousins. They are handsome boys with great personalities. We had a great time walking the streets of downtown El Paso posing for shots. They even got whistled at a couple of times! I came up with a name for them since they are always together-Adriel. It actually the dark haired's senior pictures, but since we didn't do the blond one's last year, we decided to do one for both. I know they're really anxious to see their pictures, so I posted a few so they could see (even though they already raided the camera to see all the pictures right after the photo session was up). Hope you enjoyed being the center of attention for an hour and a half! You guys really worked it. Thanks for being such awesome boys! (Oh, and warning to to girls-stay away! I can get pretty vicious.)

When I walked into these client's home, I was pleasantly surprised-after all, it's not every day you see a house like this every day. They had a beautiful atrium to greet guests that had tropical plants, a little water foutain and a quaint iron table and four chairs, two of which where retro yellow 60's chairs that I loved. We had a fun time during the photo session, especially when their 9-month old nephew joined in a few shots and when their big Lab dog came to play with them for a few shots. Thanks for being so patient with me guys, even when I had the sickies!

I'll be introducing some new, exciting products this year. This one is a beautiful baby collage similar to the Kissable Block, but larger with interesting patterns and colors. This is the time of year where I have the most fun. I love it since it's senior pictures time. They are so much fun to be with. They are old enough to carry an intelligent conversation, yet still so childlike and playful. This senior was not exception. We had a really good time and some good laughs.

Welcome to a brand new year! I hope you all had a beautiful holiday season surrounded by loved ones, lots of yummy food and fun presents. I know I did. I'll have to say the highlight of the season was breaking our Christmas star piñata with all of our little munchkins. It was precious seeing their little faces as all the endless candy came flying down!

I'm excited for some new changes in the business. The main change is that all pictures will now have the linen finish and the protective spray for the same price as the regular pictures. So basically you will get more quality and the same cost.

Since I took a bit of a break to be with my family, I am posting some pictures that I took in the fall of last year. This is my beautiful aunt and her family whom I adore. The boy is graduating this year and I can't wait to go out and have some fun with him while taking his senior pictures. And what can I say about my gorgeous cousin...and she's only 14. Boys, I'm warning you-stay away from her!

I hope you all had a great Halloween. We definitely did. I had a couple of clients who wanted pictures of their babies in their Halloween costumes and of course, I couldn't resist. Babies dressed as little animals are the cutest thing. Have fun eating all that candy and remember to brush, brush, brush!

I've been doing tons of family photo shoots recently, as you can imagine with the holidays coming soon. (Hooray-I love this time of year!) This particular family was a blast to work with. It was a bit more casual and relaxed. Their little one-year old was full of so much energy, as all one-year olds are, including my own! She really made me work for it. She was a tricky little one, but the work was worth capturing her true personality.

Holiday Deadlines

Fall is by far my favorite time of the year. I love the changing colors, the smell of pumpkin and spices and the cool air. And with fall comes the busy Holiday season for pictures!

I am already booked up until November 10th, so I have decided to open up one more day a week for photo sessions. This day will be every Thursday evening. If you have already made an appointment and would like to change to an earlier Thursday, please contact me as soon as possible as these dates will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Here are some important dates to keep in mind. Please be considerate. No exceptions will be made.

Nov. 14........Last day for photo sessions.
Nov. 27.......All Christmas cards must be ordered by this date for Dec. 7 delivery.
Dec. 7..........All orders must placed to receive your pictures by Dec. 21.

Keep in mind that some products take longer to be made, including coffee table books and photo handbags. Here are the deadlines for Christmas delivery on PHOTO HANDBAGS and COFFEE TABLE BOOKS:

POLICY CHANGES FOR THE FOLLOWING MONTHS

Because of the demand during the holiday season, I have decided to add a retainer policy. Once you schedule a session during the months of September, October and November, a retainer equal to the amount of your session fee ($60-$75) will be due. If you need to cancel, the retainer will not be refunded. Every year I have a waiting list and it wouldn't be fair to those who couldn't schedule if I have cancelations since those people on the list would have been able to take the spot.

Proofing galleries will only be available for 1 week. This is to ensure we meet all the deadlines and give me enough time to produce quality prints.

I love it when little ones are full of energy. They just radiate happiness, health, curiosity and warmth. This beautiful little girl is my baby's age and is just as much as active as mine. She was much too busy dancing her little bottom off- so cute! And her big brother was just a charm. We talked about Power Rangers and poopy diapers-wait, what? Poopy diapers? Oh yes, that always gets them going! (By the way, these cuties belong to a very talented photographer friend of mine who does amazing sports and landscape photography. I know it's barely July and some of you might think it's too early to start thinking about Christmas, but believe it or not, I've already had my first order of Christmas cards. I just want to remind everyone how crazy it gets in the fall. If you're thinking about having a session done for Christmas pictures and cards, I suggest you start considering dates. I am currently booking for photo shoots in September and October.

Like I said before, I had the opportunity to photograph two of my roommates' kids. These beautiful little girls belong to one of those roomies. We took these pictures in their grandma's backyard, which was picture perfect. The grand kids loved being able to play with the water. It was a blast!
This little cutie just turned 1. She LOVES the cat and the cat got some great smiles out of her!

She was looking up at her daddy in this picture. I love her expression in this one. She's definitely a daddy's little girl.

These beautiful little twins were such a blast to photograph. They'll be turning the big 1 pretty soon and they are sooo adorable. I'm back from my much needed break and am in full swing now. It's so interesting how different types of photo shoots come in spurts. Like there was a time where I was doing a lot of maternity shoots, then newborn, and recently I've had quite a few 1 year-old shoots. And interestingly enough they aren't related to each other in any way. I've also had the opportunity to photograph two of my roomies from college. So I'll be posting quite a bit a pictures in the next few days-hopefully!

This handsome babe is already 9 months. How time goes by. I photographed him when he was born and when he was 6 months. He is such a delight to photograph. He doesn't really move and he's so happy. I love his deep laugh-so contagious. I was excited when his mom told me she wanted the pictures without any backdrops-just my carport and wall as the background. I love the way these turned out with the warm colors. I tried to put my own little monkey in the same place before, but wasn't successful since he's so active!

I've been wanting to photograph these kids for the longest time because they are so darn cute! Every single one of them has amazing eyes. I had a great time with all of them. But I'm so bummed because this awesome family is moving this summer. We're really going to miss you guys-especially you, my sweet Kristina! Good luck. I love Mr. GQ. I seriously took me like 5 minutes to get some great shots of him. He knew just how to work it!

Like I've said many times before, I feel so fortunate and blessed to be able to be so close to the miracle of life and capture a part of it since it is here only for a little while. When babies are so new, there is something very special about them. Just being in the same room with them makes me so emotional.

I photographed this beautiful woman when she was pregnant and then I finally got to meet the little princess. She really is amazing.
I have never seen a newborn smile so much!

I can't believe my little Fabi is getting married!!! This is my sweet cousin and her GQ fiance who is stealing her from us! I literally cried as I went through these pictures. It was so emotional seeing what a beautiful young woman she has become. There are so many good pictures from this photo shoot that I wanted to post ALL of them, but I decided to only post a few. We had a blast on this photo shoot. Young love is so innocent and pure. Don't you just love how much in love these two are? Congrats Fabi and Oscar-I can't wait for the wedding!

I can't believe it's been so long since my last post. I'm so sorry guys! We've moved homes and it has been crazy trying to get settled. Things don't get done as quickly as I'd like them to with a 4-year old and an almost 1-year old. I've been a bit behind on proofing, so I'm letting these patient clients take a peek at their session.

Can I just say it was really hard narrowing down the proofs for this session. I loved almost every single picture! This baby was the sweetest little thing ever. And like I've said so many times before, I just love pictures of moms-especially new ones, with their babies. It is such a beautiful thing to be behind a camera documenting these tender moments. With almost every newborn photo shoot I get a little teary eyed at some point during the session. I can't help it.

These cards are so awesome I don't know why it hadn't occurred to me to offer them to my clients. They're basically business cards for moms. They're so handy when you need to exchange information with other moms or leave babysitters your telephone information. They are also great to put into children's backpack in case they get lost. The back of the cards can have emergency contact information, such as relative numbers and doctor's number, any allergies your child might have an even food preferences. I'm still working on more designs and pricing, but check back to see more!

I think expectant mothers have moved up to the top of my list of favorite subjects to photograph. I LOVE photographing women and their glamorous bellies! I just feel so blessed to be a part of preserving the most beautiful miracle of life. Pregnant women really do have a unique glow to them and it's so great to capture this on camera.

This girl was just gorgeous! I really do need to pay her for letting me take pictures of her. She is a real pro at being in front of the camera which made our session a blast. And her whole support group was also great fun.
Ok, so in response to the "overwhelming" response (check the number of comments) to my photo bag post, I will be offering the fabulous Gina Alexander bags. I am still looking for a provider of photo jewerly that I really love. Haven't found it yet, but I'm hopeful. I'll keep you posted.

Botox Injection!

Wow, my life has been so crazy lately. It's been so long since I've updated my blog. Things are starting to wind down since Saturday is the deadline for Christmas orders. As you can imagine, I've done shoot after shoot, but it has been so much fun. I can't wait for it to be all over and cuddle with my hubby and sip a cup of hot cocoa in front of a chimney in a cabin in Utah. Oooohhhh, that'll be sooo nice and much deserved!

My friend "D" is my most loyal customer. I love taking their pictures because they're so laid back and just go with the flow. We decided to try something new and went to the Botanical Gardens and did some pictures with their beautiful water fountain. If you haven't been to the garden, you need to go. It's very peaceful and they have fun activities for the kids. Just don't let your kids run around too much-they get kind of upset! It's kid-friendly, but not too kid-friendly, if you know what I mean.

Remember this sweet little boy? He's on my portfolio gallery on my website (#5 in the "Your Soul" gallery). If I remember correctly, he was less than a year old at the time and now he's 2 1/2. He's so cute! So here is his older brother and their newest addition, sweet little baby "R." She's my little Diego's age and reminds me so much of him. I think she's a feminine version of him. Every time I see these kids, I just want to kiss and hug them-being the kissy/huggy person that I am!

I absolutely love this picture because it shows how beautiful this little girl's eyes are. They are a yellowish/greenish color. Just stunning! It's been a real busy week with Matt's work and my photo shoots. We have been working hard, but we've also been playing hard. Yesterday was Matt's work party and then we went to the ward trunk-or-treat. We had such a great time. I haven't taken the time to take some pictures that I like of the boys in their costumes, but I did snap a few at the work party. Kai was so busy playing on the huge inflatable slide that this is all I got from him.
Kai must have gone up this thing at least 10 times. What goes up, must come down.Diego just looked sooo adorable in his little lion costume. Yes, I know, I am completely biased, but I'm allowed to say that, aren't I? Come on, just look at him!They had face painting at the party and Kai wanted a "lion" painted on his cheek. Isn't that the sweetest? Like his little brother.

Let me tell you this photo shoot was just hilarious. I photographed a family with 4 boys and 1 princess. I was just quickly looking over the pictures tonight since I took them this morning and came upon this one. I think I've been laughing out loud for about 10 minutes now. I LOVE it! This little boy is such a ham. I told all the boys they had one picture to make the silliest, most goofiest pose and face they could. (That way, they would hopefully get the goofiness out of their systems!) When this little one did this pose, it totally reminded me of my husband. And when my hubby saw it tonight, he said it reminded him of the goofy things he used to do when he was a kid! How funny is that? So here is the picture that describes my photo shoot better than any words I could write. Go on, have a good laugh!
